Instant Piano

Instructors: Michael McMillan

Description:   Description:  For hopelessly busy people!  No need for years of lessons to learn piano.  In just one session you can learn enough to give you years of musical enjoyment, whether entertaining others or just for your own amusement.  The traditional approach teaches you note reading, while professional pianists use chords.  You will learn all the chords you’ll need to play any song.  Any song. Any style.  Any key.  You’ll then perfect your technique at home, using an exclusive audiocassette provided by the instructor.  It’s easy, fun and musically correct!  Already know your way around the keyboard a little?  Then you’re ready for this workshop.  If not send a self-addressed stamped envelope to:  Michael McMillan, 120 Summer Lane, Covington GA  30016.

Wordplay

Instructors: SaraBeth Huntley

Description:   This course is designed for folks who think they would like to write, or used to think they would like to write or think they might have something funny or cool or thoughtful to say but don’t know how to start.  We’ll do some warm-up exercises with or without the special outfits; wear something comfy!  You’ll discover types of writing you prefer right away, and some you might like later.  Maybe you’ll discover a knack for greeting cards or novels, or maybe inspirational stories, journals, stories of your family that a child has a right to know, poetry that comes naturally and unexpectedly, short stories, or maybe even eloquent lists of moments you hope to have.  Come play in our sandbox.  You will not share or receive teacher comments unless you request it.

So THAT’S What Writers Do!

Instructors: SaraBeth Huntley

Description:   This class will explore the work and play of “the writing life.”  Students will be encouraged to share and probe the stories, thoughts, feelings, and ideas that most intrigue them.  For at least one week, try to apply the most common “discipline,” followed by most successful writers to find the time.  The class will include ideas and instruction for both private and public kinds of writing, and develop a familiarity with selected concepts of “productivity” by trying them in class ourselves.  We may build on short pieces written before this class began, or individuals may create selections during the course.  As always, writing will only be “critiqued” if requested.

Writing for Discovery

Instructors: SaraBeth Huntley

Description:   This course will begin with a light-hearted approach to what can become a pleasant hobby or a life’s work, and is designed for beginning writers and those writers who are interested in exploring verbal forms they have never tried.  Your wonderings, well-expressed, may be valuable in helping someone else find the question they needed to ask, or just a start in the right direction for an important answer.  Perhaps you can tell a story to let someone know that what they are feeling is a natural concern or fear, that they are joined in their fear or concern by all parents or teens or elders.  Besides, it just feels good to know you said a difficult thing well, or expressed a serious concern in a delicate or sensitive way.  As always, writing will only be “critiqued” if requested.
