the
art place -
mountain view is a program and a building created just for the arts. Upon
leasing and converting a restaurant to an arts center in 1986, the county
soon discovered the need and desire for arts programs in East Cobb. The
Steeple House Arts Center opened it's doors in January of 1987. This
facility was located at the corner of Johnson Ferry and Paper Mill Roads. Within
three years the response to the programming in this facility gave the county
officials the direction needed to build a building just for the arts.
the art place - mountain view is the result of a dream and the undying participation in
the arts from the East Cobb Community.
As the first coordinator of The Art Place, it holds a special place in my heart. I love the
possibilities of this building, it's programs and the people who make
the programs happen. Don't be afraid to suggest something new.
the art place is
all about creation.... Or the process of art. Without the patrons, we, the staff,
would just create what we like. Think about where you would like to see
your arts program go and then work with a staff member to make it happen. That's
how we began in 1986. I think that process has proven to be very
successful.
Theatrically Yours,
Elizabeth H. Weaver - Cultural
Affairs Division Director
