The Mountain View Arts Alliance co-sponsors this event as a way to promote college art students and provide cash prizes to the students who are juried and picked as winners by local art-experienced judges. MVAA also helps by providing funds to provide stipends to the judges and the gallery opening food. This year the awards have been increased for 2013: 1st: $400, 2nd: $200, Judges Choice: $100 and there is usually a purchase award that varies with the price of the artwork.
